Hina Rabbani Khar

Hina Rabbani Khar is the first female foreign minister of Pakistan. After the resignation of Shah Mehmood Qureshi from foreign ministry in 2011 she was appointed as foreign minister. She is the youngest foreign minister of the world. She was born in Multan on 19 January 1997 and belongs to a well-known political family of Pakistan. Her father Malik Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar was a famous politician and her uncle Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar is the former chief minister and governor of Punjab was one of the founders of Pakistan people’s party. Her family basically belongs from ‘’Khar Gharbi’’ which is a village in Kot Addu a Tehsil of District Muzaffargarh in the southern Punjab Pakistan.

Hina Rabbani Khar did his BSC (hons) from Lahore University of Management science (LUMS) in 1999 and her Msc in 2001 from University of Massachusetts, U.S.A in the subject of Business Management.

She started her political career in 2002 after disqualification of his father and many other family members for taking part in election. She took part in the election under the flag of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid e Azam (PML-Q) and successfully elected as a member of the national assembly from Muzaffargarh. In 2004, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz appointed her in finance ministry. She turns into the deputy minister of economic affairs in 2005.

In the 2008, PML-Q refused to give her party ticket for re election.  Then she joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on the invitation of a senior member of the party. In the elections of 2008 PPP gets success and make government in alliance with some other parties. Hina Rabbani Khar secured her constituency successfully and then becomes the Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs in the cabinet of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. She worked and presented the federal budget of Pakistan in 2010 in front the parliament and becomes the first female to present the economic budget of Pakistan.

In Februry 2011 Sha Mehmood Qureshi, foreign minister of Pakistan, resign from the ministry due to some conflicts with the government on the issue of Raymond Davis. After the resignation of Sha Mehmod Qureshi, Hina Rabbani was appointed as acting foreign minister of Pakistan. In July 2011, she formally takes the charge of foreign ministry. When she becomes the foreign minister of Pakistan, the anti-American emotions were at its hype, relations with India were suspended and country was facing many other difficult circumstances.

Soon after taking charge of foreign ministry, she starts taking interest to make relations peaceful with India and other countries. She held meetings with Indian foreign minister right after becoming Pakistan’s foreign minister. During his visit to India, she was warmly welcomed by Indian Media and was praised for her fashionable appearance. In August 2011, she visited China and talked with Chinese foreign minister on the bilateral issues. In January 2012, she had a visit to Moscow to strengthen the relations between two countries. In August 2012, she visited Tehran to have a speech on the event of 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement. On 9 November 2012, she had a short visit to Bangladesh.

Hina Rabbani Khar is married to a businessperson Feroz Gulzar and has 3 kids, two sons and a daughter. She is business partner of her husband and owned a restaurant in Lahore polo ground by the name of polo lounge.

In addition to her success in politics, she is involved in many controversies and scandals like electricity bill corruption scandal. There are reports in the media that a company owned by her husband Feroz Gulzar  is a defaulter and have an electricity bill of 70 million rupees which they managed to pay in installments of 3000 per month by misusing the authority. She and her husband are also one the many beneficiaries of National reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). She is also alleged by having a romantic involvement with the chairman of PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. She denied her involvement with the PPP chairman in a press conference.

Like most of the members of families of feudal lords, she is also a big fan of polo and has a stable of horses. She is very famous on social media and is reported to have almost 20 face book fan clubs. She is famous for her handbags and has a good collection.
